Day 1: From Hearing to Seeing

Reading: 1 John 1:1-3

Devotional:  John wrote not as a distant theologian but as a witness. He had heard, seen, and touched the Word of Life. There is a profound difference between knowing about God and knowing God.  John made this same discovery. He had heard of God with the hearing of the ear, but when God appeared in the storm, everything changed. Religion can fill your mind with facts about a holy God while your heart remains a stranger to Him. Today, do not merely read about Him. Ask Him to make Himself known to you. He is not hiding.

Day 2: Proximity Is Not Relationship

Reading: John 5:39-40
Devotional:  The Pharisees were the most Scripture-saturated people of their generation. They memorized, debated, and defended the Word of God. Yet Jesus told them plainly that the very Scriptures they searched testified of Him, and still they refused to come to Him for life.  It is possible to be surrounded by truth and remain untouched by it. The Bible is not a catalog of religious information. It is a living testimony pointing to a living Saviror.  When you open it today, do not merely collect. Listen! Ask the Lord what He is saying directly to you. Then obey what you hear.

Day 3: Martha, Mary, and the One Thing Needed

Reading: Luke 10:38-42

Devotional: Martha loved Jesus
That must be said plainly. Her service was real, her welcome was genuine, and her work was necessary.  But she allowed the doing of good things to crowd out the best thing.  Mary chose to sit at His feet and hear His word, and Jesus said that good portion would not be taken from her. Service is not the enemy of worship, but it can become a substitute for it, when we are not careful.  Examine your week. Are you busy with the things of God while quietly neglecting God Himself?  Sit down. Be still. He is worth it.

Day 4: Walking in the Light

Reading: 1 John 1:7; Psalm 63:1
 
Fellowship with God is not a feeling reserved for Sunday mornings. It is a life consciously lived before Him.  David described it as a thirst, a deep soul-hunger for the living God that no circumstance could quiet. When we walk in the light as He is in the light, something remarkable follows: we find genuine fellowship with one another. The vertical relationship repairs the horizontal one. You cannot manufacture community among believers by working harder at community.  Draw near to God, and the connections He designed will take care of themselves. Let your prayer today be simple: Lord, I thirst for you.

Day 5:  Walking With Him Again

Reading: 2 Corinthians 13:5; Psalm 139:23-24

Devotional : Paul's instruction to examine yourself is not a call to despair but to honesty. God already knows what the examination will reveal. He is simply waiting for you to see it too.  Is your prayer life a ritual of repeated phrases, or is it a real conversation with a real God? Does the Bible correct you, or does it always seem to correct someone else?  Invite God to search you today, not because He is waiting to condemn, but because He loves you enough to lead you away from what is harmful and back toward what is true.  Walk with Him again. He has never stopped walking with you.
