The Morning That Changed Everything

The Morning That Changed Everything
There's something profoundly different about Easter morning. While we gather with joy and celebration today, the first Easter dawned with sorrow and grief. Two women walked toward a tomb expecting to anoint a dead body, carrying spices and perfumes for one final act of devotion to their crucified Lord. They had no idea they were about to witness the most world-altering event in human history.

What they found instead was an empty tomb—not because someone had stolen the body, but because death itself had been defeated. The stone wasn't rolled away to let Jesus out; it was rolled away so witnesses could look in and see that He was gone. The grave could not contain the Son of God.
The Power That Shakes the Earth

Matthew 28 describes the scene with dramatic imagery: "And behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it." The earth itself trembled at what God had done. The guards stationed at the tomb fell like dead men, overwhelmed by the angel's presence—his countenance like lightning, his clothing white as snow.

Rome had tried to secure the situation. The religious leaders thought they had ended the story. They had witnesses, a crucifixion, blood, and a sealed tomb. Everything was done to prove their power over this Jesus. But God demonstrated that no earthly force—no matter how strong, official, or secure—can stand against His power.

The resurrection reveals God's ability to make the impossible possible. The stone was massive. The guards were trained soldiers. The seal was official. None of it mattered when God decided to move.

What situation in your life feels too heavy, too guarded, or too far gone for God to change?
