Devotional: Wisdom, Faithfulness, and Staying Close to Your Guide

Day 1: The Foundation of True Wisdom

Reading: Proverbs 2:1-11; James 1:5-8

Devotional: Solomon's request for wisdom over wealth reveals a profound truth: godly wisdom is the foundation for all other blessings. When we prioritize understanding God's ways over accumulating earthly treasures, we position ourselves to receive abundantly. Like Solomon, we must recognize our limitations and humbly approach God, saying, "I don't know whether I'm coming or going." This self-awareness isn't weakness—it's the beginning of wisdom. God promises to give wisdom generously to those who ask in faith. Today, consider what you're truly seeking. Are you chasing riches, power, or recognition? Or are you pursuing a discerning heart that can distinguish between good and evil? When we seek God's kingdom first, everything else follows. Ask God today for wisdom to navigate your circumstances, and watch how He provides what you truly need.

Question:  Solomon asked God for wisdom rather than wealth or power. If God offered you anything, what would you ask for and why?
