Title: Are We There Yet? Lessons from the Wilderness Journey

Jan 4, 2026    Bro. Michael Bragdon

This message takes us on a powerful journey through one of the most significant 40-year periods in biblical history—Israel's wilderness wandering. What should have been a 40-day journey to the Promised Land became a 40-year lesson in faith, obedience, and trust. The central question we all ask echoes through the desert: 'Are we there yet?' But perhaps we're asking the wrong question. Instead of focusing solely on the destination, we need to understand the classroom God has created in our wilderness moments. The Israelites faced daily lessons about depending on God's provision—manna from heaven, water from rocks, clothes that never wore out, and divine guidance through pillars of cloud and fire. Yet they struggled with complaining, impatience, and selective memory about their past. We see ourselves in their story. How often do we focus on the black dot on the white paper—fixating on what's missing rather than celebrating what God has already provided? The wilderness wasn't punishment; it was preparation. God was humbling them, testing them, and teaching them to trust Him completely. Every difficulty had purpose, every delay had meaning. The beautiful truth is that there was a 41st year—a time when the wandering ended and promises were fulfilled. Whatever wilderness season we find ourselves in today, we can trust that our faithful God is teaching us lessons we desperately need to learn, and that our 41 is coming.
